“We are mourning the loss of two dedicated officers and community members,” said Timothy Thomas, president of the Phoenix Police Foundation. “Unexpected losses like these are extremely difficult on the families so we want to help ease the financial burden in any way we can. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Sergeant Wheeler and Officer Aker.”
The Phoenix Police Foundation ensures 100% of all donations raised will be given directly to the families of Sgt. Wheeler and Officer Aker to assist with funeral expenses or other needs during this difficult time.
As part of its mission, the Phoenix Police Foundation provides financial assistance to fallen Phoenix Police Officers and their families through the Officer Assistance Program.
Over the last five years, the foundation has provided over a million dollars of assistance to officers and their families in need. The Phoenix Police Foundation operates exclusively from private funding from community and corporate partners.
