Scottsdale City Council candidates talk local issues at City Hall

The Arizona Digital Free Press hosted a ‘Community Conversation’ with candidates for Scottsdale City Council from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26.

The city of Scottsdale is hosting a general election Tuesday, Nov. 5, to elect a mayor and two members of Scottsdale City Council whereas candidate Jan Dubauskas won her race at the July primary election outright and will take office this January.

The candidates, in alphabetical order, for Scottsdale City Council who participated in the inaugural Community Conversation were:

  • Tammy Caputi, a longtime resident of Scottsdale, a local business owner and member of Scottsdale City Council.
  • Tom Durham, a longtime resident of Scottsdale and member of Scottsdale City Council.
  • Maryann McAllen, a newcomer to politics but passionate about making a difference in her city.

Of Note: At the Sept. 26 event, Councilman Tom Durham asked voters to not vote for him meanwhile his name will remain on the Nov. 5 general election ballot, according to the office of the Scottsdale City Clerk. Here is a report on the matter from AZFamily.

The Digital Free Press is hosting the Scottsdale Mayoral Debate from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at City Hall.

The Digital Free Press Community Conversation and Scottsdale Mayoral Debate will air every Saturday in October via the Scottsdale Video Network on Cox Cable Channel 11 at 2, 7 and 11 a.m. then at 3, 6 and 9 p.m. The mayoral debate will air first, City Hall officials say.
