The Foothills Caring Corps, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Carefree, received a generous donation from the Kiwanis Club of Carefree to support its popular van program.
This program, Foothills Caring Corps officials tell the Digital Free Press, provides essential transportation services to aging and homebound neighbors in Carefree, Cave Creek, and surrounding areas.
The agency’s fleet includes nine vans, six of which are wheelchair accessible and provide transportation for group activities, meal deliveries, social gatherings, and non-emergency medical appointments, ensuring seniors remain connected and engaged.
Last year, the agency touched the lives of 28,000 individuals through 3,327 recreational van trips and 2,955 non-emergency medical trips, according to a press release.
“These funds from the Kiwanis Club of Carefree are instrumental in supporting our mission to help seniors and disabled adults live independently in their homes,” said Brent Downs, executive director of Foothills Caring Corps. “Their support enables us to maintain our Van Program, making a significant impact on the lives of our neighbors.”
Tom Pozarycki, funds request committee, Kiwanis Club of Carefree, echoed a similar sentiment.
“Foothills Caring Corps’s van service is vital to our aging population,” he said. “The Kiwanis Club of Carefree is proud to help our neighbors retain their independence and improve their quality of life.”
