Scottsdale Water Executive Director Brian Biesemeyer has been named ‘Person of the Year’ by Arizona Water Association and Arizona WateReuse at the 2024 Arizona WateReuse Symposium.
Mr. Biesemeyer, his directors and key employees were actively involved in the conference to moderate panels and facilitate on key topics involving Advanced Water Purification, City Hall officials tell the Digital Free Press.
Mr. Biesemeyer has spearheaded and guided Scottsdale Water to be recognized as a leader in the water industry, officials at City Hall say.
Scottsdale Water is the first to receive an Advanced Water Purification permit in Arizona and the first to launch a Citizen Water Academy to cultivate public participation.
“Brian has been a steady and active leader with a mission to preserve our water resources and diversify our water supply to take us into the future,” said Assistant City Manager Greg Caton. “He has always been willing to meet with public groups, our city council, and present to community boards. He has been a visionary for Scottsdale and always seeks to find solutions.”
Mr. Biesemeyer has been active in water reuse and is a past national board member of the WateReuse Association and a past president of WateReuse Arizona. Brian is also a past chair and current member of the Management Board of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association.
“This award is a great honor and reflects well on Scottsdale Water as an organization that lives its vision of “water sustainability through stewardship, innovation, and people,” Mr. Biesemeyer said in a prepared statement. “I am honored to be part of an organization that is dedicated to using innovative strategies to ensure water supplies for many generations.”
