Arizona Helping Hands is hosting its annual back-to-school drive, an effort to provide school supplies to thousands of children in foster care throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.
The collection drive’s distribution dates are set for July 13-14. Donations are currently accepted at 3110 E. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Founded in 1998, the mission of Arizona Helping Hands is to provide essential needs for children in foster care through programs promoting safety, permanency, and health.
As Arizona’s largest service provider of essential needs to children in foster care, Arizona Helping Hands services remain unparalleled, supporting children in foster care with items, including beds, cribs, clothing, diapers, and hygiene items, according to a press release.
Arizona Helping Hands also provides backpacks with school supplies to help children succeed in school and fulfills birthday dreams to help raise self-esteem by showing children they are special and loved.
Representatives at Arizona Helping Hands report there are many ways to be involved. They include:
- Sponsor a Collection Drive: Now through August 2022 – Hold a collection drive for needed items at your business or in your community group. Boxes and posters provided.
- Be a Drop-Off location: Use your business as a drop-off location for backpacks and supplies.
- Donate: A $35 donation provides a backpack filled with school supplies for a child in foster care.

- Calculators
- Construction Paper Pads
- Washable Markers
