The Arizona Health Care Association, Arizona LeadingAge, and Arizona Assisted Living Federation are joining forces to establish the CARE Coalition.

CARE is an acronym for Communication, Accountability, and Responsiveness in Eldercare, representatives of the effort tell the Digital Free Press.

The CARE Coalition, officials there say, is poised to emerge as a dynamic group that will promote common sense solutions to senior housing, focusing on improving resident safety in assisted living communities, memory care services and nursing care facilities.

The CARE Coalition is composed of owners, operators and non-profit organizations united by a shared dedication to eradicating elder abuse through innovative and common sense solutions, according to a press release.

Beyond the mission of combating elder abuse, the CARE Coalition aims to amplify public awareness regarding the high-quality and compassionate care currently being offered across Arizona.

“The CARE Coalition is a passionate team of senior living leaders, dynamically determined to assure quality of life and dignity within all long term care and residential care communities,” said Scott McCutcheon, vice chair of CARE.

CARE Coalition looks to foster accountability in Arizona elder care

The coalition intends to provide thoughtful public policy that allows Arizona’s older adults to continue to live life to the fullest in the least restrictive environment. The CARE Coalition is a catalyst for positive change in shaping the future of Arizona’s eldercare landscape.

“At a time when more Arizona seniors than ever are in need of clean, supportive, and dignified housing and care solutions, it is an honor to be a part of this innovative CARE Coalition to help elevate the standards in senior living today,” said Kristopher Woolley of Avista Senior Living, chairman of CARE.

Karen Barno, Arizona Assisted Living Federation CEO, echoed a similar sentiment.

“Whenever we have the opportunity to convene a panel of dedicated professionals from the profession to engage in discussions about senior housing, it presents significant advantages for residents in Arizona,” she said.
