Telefèric Barcelona, a tapas restaurant group founded in Barcelona, has opened at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
The restaurant marks the brand’s seventh location and its first outside California, and will feature several offerings exclusive to the Scottsdale site, according to a press release.
Founded in 1992 by siblings Maria and Xavi Padrosa, Telefèric Barcelona has expanded over three decades while sharing Spanish culinary traditions. The company opened its first U.S. location in Walnut Creek, Calif., in 2015.
As it marks its 10th year in the United States, the Scottsdale opening represents a new phase in the group’s growth.
“Opening in Scottsdale is a defining milestone for our family,” Co‑Founder Xavier Padrosa said.
“Ten years ago, we introduced our first U.S. restaurant with the dream of bringing Barcelona’s vibrant tapas culture stateside. Expanding beyond California for the first time represents the next evolution of that vision, with Scottsdale’s dynamic dining scene making it the perfect place to continue growing while staying true to our roots.”
Telefèric Barcelona’s menu highlights tapas and paellas, including patatas bravas, jamón ibérico de bellota, gambas al ajillo, pulpo Telefèric and croquetas filled with jamón or king crab. The restaurant’s paellas feature socarrat, the crispy rice at the bottom of the pan, and use ingredients imported from Spain.
The beverage program includes Spanish‑inspired cocktails, sangrías, gin and tonic selections and a wine list featuring more than 100 Spanish labels.
Designed by Co‑Founder Maria Padrosa, the Scottsdale restaurant blends Mediterranean‑inspired materials with a modern dining space that includes indoor seating, an outdoor patio and an open kitchen with a paella station.
With the Scottsdale debut, Telefèric Barcelona is launching two location‑exclusive experiences. The first is “Brunchelona,” a daily brunch offering dishes such as Eggs Benedict on toasted waffles, the Barcelona Chicken Sandwich and Steak and Eggs with mojo verde. On Sundays, the brunch transitions from acoustic Flamenco sets to a lounge environment with a live DJ.
The second is The Evolution of Sound, a Saturday night entertainment program featuring Flamenco performances, live guitar and a DJ‑driven finale.
Guests can also shop at the in‑restaurant Spanish market, Èl Merkat, which sells imported oils, rices, spices and other specialty products. The restaurant offers paella kits, tapas catering and live paella experiences.
Telefèric Barcelona at Scottsdale Fashion Square is found at 7014 E. Camelback Road.
