The Arabian Horse Association of Arizona’s 15th annual Arabian National Breeder Finals is calling all young creatives and amateur artists to celebrate the spirit and beauty of the breed through heroic imagination by entering this year’s “Horses as Heroes” art contest.
Now through Aug. 15, children up to age 17, and amateur artists 18 and older, are invited to submit 8-by-11-inch art pieces that depict an Arabian horse as a superhero either inspired by an existing character or entirely original, according to a press release.
Contest requirements:
Eligibility: Children up to age 17 and amateur artists aged 18 and older are invited to participate in the “Horses as Heroes” art contest. No professional art submissions will be considered.
Theme: Artwork must depict an Arabian horse as a superhero and be created on 8-by-11-inch paper using any medium, including pencil, paint, digital, or mixed media.
Submissions: Participants must submit a high-resolution image of their artwork via email to media@scottsdaleshow.com by Aug. 15.
Submissions should include the artist’s name, age and the title of their contributed piece.
Finalists: Public voting will take place from Aug. 20 through Sept. 2 on The Arabian Horse Association of Arizona’s Facebook page, during which people can vote for their favorite pieces. The top 10 entries from each age category will be displayed at the Arabian National Breeder Finals, held Sept. 10–13.
On the final day of the show, the top three winners in each age category, Gold, Silver, and Bronze, will be announced and presented with awards, the release states.
The Arabian National Breeder Finals competition consists of a series of different performances, called classes, where some of the best Arabian halter and performance horses in the world will compete for more than $100,000 in prize money and the coveted title of Finals Champion.
With over 250 horses competing, this special event has something for everyone. In line with the art contest theme, Saturday night will feature live entertainment provided by Superhero Band.
The Arabian National Breeder Finals runs from Sept. 10-13 at the Equidome at WestWorld, 16601 N. Pima Road.
