Entertainment and patriotic programs set for Willmeng Arizona Celebration of Freedom

Staff Reports | Happenings & Events

The Willmeng Arizona Celebration of Freedom on Friday, July 4 is more than a fireworks show.

The family-friendly celebration of our country’s freedom and independence will also include live music, stunt shows, pro wrestling and patriotic programs that are both outside and out of the heat inside the Mesa Convention Center, according to a press release.

Stage America will be on the grass outside the Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center St. It features music from People Who Could Fly. A brief Salute to America program will be on the stage at approximately 9:15 p.m., setting a patriotic tone leading into a spectacular fireworks finale at 9:30 p.m.

New this year is Phoenix Championship Wrestling Presents SLAMU at the Mesa Amphitheatre.

Phoenix Championship Wrestling stars such as Zamaya, Jon Wolfgang, Pretty City Express, Enrique Calderon and Kevin Koa will bring high-flying action as they settle their differences inside the squared circle for a night full of family-friendly professional wrestling matches.

Outdoor patriotic activities will include the Patriotic Military Showcase with various military vehicles. Military recruiters from the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Space Force will be there with information about joining our armed services. A crowd favorite, the Patriotic Superhero Stunt Show, returns with performances at 6:30 p.m., 7:20 p.m. and 8:10 p.m.

Several patriotic programs will be inside the air-conditioned Mesa Convention Center, including the Let Freedom Ring Laser Light Show. The spectacular laser displays, photos and patriotic music will be at 7 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Patriotic music will be performed by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Arizona Band in between each laser show.

The Fallen Soldiers Memorial is a memorial honoring the Arizona fallen heroes from the war on terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan. Historic flags of the U.S. will be presented at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 8 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

Now in its 16th year, the Willmeng Arizona Celebration of Freedom promises a fantastic celebration. Join us from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Mesa Convention Center and Mesa Amphitheatre.
