Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream is sharing a big scoop: during its Sept. 22 grand opening party, customers can receive a free scoop of ice cream in their flavor of choice.
The grand opening of this first-ever concept takes place on National Ice Cream Cone Day and during the party, Scottsdale Mayor David Ortega will serve a ceremonial ‘first scoop’ to a customer in lieu of a ribbon cutting.
Guests can also provide an optional donation to benefit Banner Children’s medical centers in Arizona, according to a press release.
“We’re excited to sweeten up Old Town Scottsdale with our premium treats and birthday cheer,” said Tom Medrano, founder of Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream.
The Sept. 22 grand opening will last from 8:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. During the event, customers will be encouraged to donate to Banner Children’s via the organization’s secure QR code.
Mr. Medrano is a former Banner Health patient and intends to make regular donations throughout the year to the hospital through his new business, the release states.
Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream is a 1,450 square-foot parlor at 3712 N. Scottsdale Road, No. 105.
Mr. Medrano was inspired by the old-timey aesthetic and whimsy of Farrell’s, a chain of ice cream parlors popular in the 1970s and ‘80s.
Tom’s Incredible Ice Cream is the only shop in Maricopa County serving HERSHEY’s brand ice cream, which is not affiliated with the chocolate company of the same name, as well as an impressive selection of handmade ice cream cakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, Italian ice, soda floats, waffles, eclectic sundaes and much more. All ice cream is certified kosher, and the menu boasts vegan and gluten-free offerings to suit a variety of dietary preferences.
