The Tempe Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the state in this year’s ‘Buckle Up Arizona’ campaign.
This campaign aims to use strict enforcement measures and educational contacts to encourage drivers to properly use seat belts and child safety seats to assist in reducing the risk of death and serious injuries in collisions, according to a press release.
The Tempe Police Department received a $10,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to cover officer personnel and campaign-related expenses for the event, which runs until June 2.
Proper safety belt and child safety seat use have been proven to be the most effective way to reduce death or serious injuries related to vehicle collisions, public safety officials report.
