Summer of a Million Meals: United Food Bank, 12News & Fry’s host drive

United Food Bank is announcing the return of the seventh annual Summer of a Million Meals fundraiser campaign — in partnership with 12News and Fry’s Food Stores — to assist families in need by raising one million meals.
The campaign runs now through Labor Day, according to a press release.
“We are thrilled to continue our efforts once again with 12News and Fry’s Food Stores for our annual Summer of a Million Meals fundraiser,” said Jason Reed, president and CEO of United Food Bank, in a prepared statement.
“This is one of our most important fundraisers as it ensures every family has access to the meals they need. Food insecurity is a year-round problem in Arizona, but the need increases over the summer months with children on break from school.”
Throughout the summer, United Food Bank, in partnership with 12News will host two giving telethon events on June 6 and July 18, the release states.
Each day during the telethon, 12 News viewers can call United Food Bank to make a donation at 480-398-4499 during the times of 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In addition, Arizonans also have the option to donate online HERE or at any of the registers at Fry’s Food Stores through Labor Day.

Our hope is that, together with our partners and our generous viewers, we can come together as neighbors to create a summer of abundance for all.”
Monica Garnes, president of Fry’s Food Stores, echoed a similar sentiment.
“Fry’s Food Stores has been a leader in the fight to end hunger in Arizona for many years, which is part of our Zero Hunger Zero Waste social impact plan.”she said. “The reason we’re able to stay focused on this important initiative is our great partnership with United Food Bank and other local feeding organizations. We are proud to partner with United Food Bank and 12News for the Summer of a Million Meals campaign and we’re grateful that our wonderful customers and associates continue to support this worthy cause, year after year.”
