Scottsdale City Hall is implementing new security measures designed to enhance safety for employees, visitors and the public.

The upgrades, which begin July 7, include security screenings at designated entry points, bag checks and an increased on-site presence of trained security personnel, according to a press release.

Similar to successful enhancements introduced at Scottsdale’s One Civic Center, the measures will feature walk-through metal detection scanners and handheld screening devices for visitors, the release states.

Of note: Clear signage will direct visitors to designated entry and exit points where security screening — including bag checks — will be required.

Security officers will be stationed at City Hall to support these efforts, conduct safety checks and ensure a secure environment for all who visit or work in the building.

For the safety of all, weapons are not permitted inside City Hall in accordance with state law. A secure lockbox is available at the entrance for individuals who need to temporarily store a legal weapon before entering the building.
