National Arabian Horse Day, which is celebrated Sunday, Feb. 19, seeks to introduce and educate the world on the benefits of engaging with Arabian horses hoping to ensure the coveted breed’s longevity.
National Arabian Horse Day falls during the world’s largest Arabian horse event — the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show — taking place at WestWorld of Scottsdale from Feb. 16 through Feb. 26, according to a press release.
The AHAA is planning special celebrations at the show on Feb. 19 and welcomes the public to get involved by attending the show, the release states.
“We are thrilled to have a national day recognizing the Arabian horse and we look forward to celebrating this day with entertaining events for attendees,” said Taryl O’Shea executive director of the AHAA. “This breed is extremely special, and we hope that more people get involved in the Arabian horse community and experience the joy and excitement these horses can bring to your life.”
On Feb. 19 those attending the event can meet the Keystone Arabian Horse Ambassadors. Attendees will be greeted by the ambassadors and their horse as they enter the gates of the show.
Exhibitors will participate in the Keystone 50/50 Egg and Spoon Challenge where they will dress up in their best costumes and compete by balancing an egg on a spoon while riding an Arabian horse.
Attendees are encouraged to participate by voting for their favorite contestant. The challenge will take place during the last class of the afternoon on Sunday, Feb. 19 in the dome following class 120f for all the JTRs.
