Johnny Rockets, an all-American burger chain, is growing its local presence under new ownership.

Longtime franchise owner Richard “Rip” Riva has acquired the Johnny Rockets location at Arizona Mills in Tempe, and a new location in Chandler is set to open in early 2026.

Following the recent acquisition and upcoming Chandler opening, Mr. Riva now owns all six Johnny Rockets restaurants in the Phoenix metropolitan area, further solidifying the brand’s presence statewide and ensuring consistent operations and guest experiences across all locations, according to a press release.

“We’re excited to continue growing the Johnny Rockets brand across Arizona, while honoring its strong legacy of quality food and welcoming atmosphere,” said Mr. Riva. “Through our ownership of the Arizona Mills location and the upcoming opening of our Chandler restaurant, we’re able to reinvest in our local communities and create even more opportunities for our guests to come together over a classic diner experience.”

“Johnny Rockets has always been celebrated for our made-to-order burgers, hand-spun shakes and customizable sides, all served in an energetic, feel-good atmosphere that captures the spirit of the traditional American diner,” said Samantha Buya, Johnny Rockets Arizona executive. “We’re proud to continue delivering our signature mix of iconic flavors, friendly service and fun ambience to more communities in the Valley.”

The Arizona Mills location is open daily at 5000 Arizona Mills Circle in Tempe. The new Johnny Rockets in Chandler is under construction at Chandler Fashion Center, 3111 W. Chandler Blvd.
