Indoor East Valley Family Festival July 30

Event presented by AZ Mom Squad supports local businesses

Staff Reports | Digital Free Press

AZ Mom Squad hosts its first East Valley Family Festival inside the new Bell Bank Park in Mesa, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, featuring over 100 small, local businesses from throughout the Valley.

This free event will have something for the entire family, including shopping, sports tournaments, Disney characters, face painting, photo booth and more.

AZ Mom Squad is a local business run by two sisters, Megan Ghormley and Ashlyn Leyba, who were born and raised in Mesa. Together, they started AZ Mom Squad in the spring of 2020.

“We wanted to create a space where small, local businesses could authentically connect to local families in their community and thrive,” Ms. Leyba said in a news release.

Just two years later, AZ Mom Squad has a loyal following primarily on Instagram, according to the release. They connect local products and services to Arizona families through social media, events and experiences.

Activities for children and teens

Inside the new Bell Bank Park, powered by Legacy Sports, kids will be able to meet their favorite Disney characters — with a new character arriving each hour — and take photos with the characters in the photo booth and a free Polaroid strip to remember; toddlers will love the soft play area complete with a foam ball pit, climbing toys and slides; located next to the toddler area will be a Face Painting booth where kids can get their favorite designs painted for free.

Older kids and teens can run through the 42-foot inflatable obstacle course that features climbing walls, slides, inflatable obstacles and more.

Sports

For the athletes in the family, sports tournaments will be taking place every hour throughout the festival. Tournaments include Pickleball, Corn Hole and Putt Putt Golf. Play for fun or sign up for a tournament to win a prize.
