Fennemore is breaking tradition with the launch of DOT (Dynamic Optimization Technology), a secure AI assistant designed to transform how the firm operates and serves clients.

Built securely on OpenAI’s enterprise platform, DOT connects people, systems, and knowledge in real time to help teams discover information faster, drive opportunities, draft with speed, and deliver with confidence, according to a press release.

DOT is a cornerstone of Project BlueWave AI, Fennemore’s ground-up initiative to reimagine how legal services are delivered, law firm representatives tell the Digital Free Press.

While 92% of companies plan to increase AI investment in the coming years, only about 1% consider themselves AI-mature, according to McKinsey & Company. Fennemore is bucking the trends, embedding AI directly into workflows, pairing adoption with training and governance, and scaling usage across the enterprise.

“AI is the greatest opportunity of our time to reinvent how lawyers work and how clients experience legal services. With DOT, we’re not tinkering at the edges. Instead, we’re reshaping the model. This is about giving our team tools to do their best work and giving clients faster, smarter, and more valuable outcomes,” said James Goodnow, CEO of Fennemore, in a prepared statement.

DOT is built around four integrated pillars:

• Discover: Centralized access to firmwide knowledge and databases, streamlining everything from PTO to billing to travel policies.

• Drive: Data-driven insights to identify and advance new business development opportunities.

• Draft: High-quality, first drafts generated quickly, freeing attorneys to focus on strategy and client needs.

• Deliver: Smarter workflows that help teams provide consistent, efficient work product.

Unlike many AI tools in the legal space, DOT isn’t client-facing; it is designed to elevate internal operations and establish a secure foundation for long-term transformation.

“Security and thoughtful development are at the core of DOT’s design,” said Dean Seiveno, chief enterprise officer, at Fennemore. “By building it within our protected, enterprise OpenAI environment, we’ve created a platform that helps our people work smarter without ever compromising confidentiality or quality.”
