Desert Sky Mall is helping support children in foster care as they prepare for the new school year through its “Give Back for Back-to-School” campaign.
As part of the initiative, the shopping center recently presented a $5,000 donation to The Foster Alliance to support the children it serves.
According to a press release, Desert Sky Mall also is partnering with The Foster Alliance to raise funds for essential items for youth in foster care, helping provide school supplies and other necessities throughout the school year.
“Every child should have the opportunity to begin the school year feeling confident, included and prepared to learn,” Maureen Noe, president and CEO of The Foster Alliance, said. “Through the support of partners such as Desert Sky Mall, our Back-to-School Program helps provide children in foster care across Arizona and New Mexico with essential school supplies while also reducing the burden on foster and kinship families. This generous contribution provides more than backpacks and supplies; it helps create a sense of belonging and normalcy as children return to the classroom.”
Donations will help support The Foster Alliance’s goal of reaching more than 5,000 children in foster care. Contributions may be made through one-time or recurring gifts and qualify for the Arizona tax credit program. To participate, visit desertskymall.com/BackToSchool.
“We are excited to partner with The Foster Alliance to support local families who need a little extra help this time of year,” Gabrielle Ochoa, general manager of Desert Sky Mall, said. “Whether it’s a new backpack, school supplies or financial support, we’re proud to continue to give back to the community that supports us all year long.”
Desert Sky Mall is part of the Macerich portfolio of retail centers that plans to donate up to $450,000 to children’s charities and local schools during the back-to-school season.
