Brooksee is announcing the launch of the signature Phoenix Marathon, with the inaugural running set for Dec. 13, 2025.

The Phoenix Marathon will offer three distances, a 26.2-mile marathon, a 13.1-mile half marathon and a 10K. All three distances will feature courses that reflect the city’s authenticity, diversity and vibrancy, and will be run completely within the city of Phoenix, according to a press release.

Registration for the inaugural event is now open, the release states.

“I am beyond excited to partner with Visit Phoenix to attract and host the inaugural Phoenix Marathon which is set to start in my district and continue south through the heart of our amazing city,” said Vice Mayor Ann O’Brien, in a prepared statement.

“Phoenix continues to be the premier location to host top tier mega events like the Super Bowl, NCAA Championships and NBA/WNBA All Star Games in part because of our amazing climate, but also thanks to strategic investments we have made in public transit, public safety and economic development. Now, with the Phoenix Marathon, we will continue to be a premier destination for sports enthusiasts and runners of all calibers as they compete for entry into the New York Marathon, Boston Marathon and the L.A. 2028 Olympics. Thank you to Visit Phoenix and Brooksee for helping to keep Phoenix moving forward!”

The Phoenix Marathon race course is an epic tour through the city of Phoenix, beautifully showcasing the Valley of the Sun. Marathon runners will experience a flat course, perfect for that Boston Qualifier. Both Half & Full Marathon runners will race down iconic Camelback Road through the vibrant Biltmore area, offering beautiful neighborhoods, desert landscapes, and stunning views of Camelback Mountain, just a few blocks from the famed Arizona Biltmore Resort.

The finish for all three distances brings runners amazing views of Papago Park before they cross the finish line near Phoenix Municipal Stadium, home of the Sun Devils.

“We quickly recognized that Phoenix, as the largest U.S. city without a signature marathon, was the perfect location for our next world-class event,” said Phil Dumontet, CEO of Brooksee, producer of the Phoenix Marathon.

“As the fifth largest metropolitan area in the country, Phoenix offers a vibrant running community and incredible potential. Our goal is to establish a marquee race that unites the local community and draws visitors from across the country and the globe, said Phil Dumontet, CEO of Brooksee, producer of the Phoenix Marathon. “We’re working tirelessly to make the inaugural event unforgettable and are deeply grateful to our partners for their support. We can’t wait to see everyone on race day!”

Ron Prince, president and CEO of Visit Phoenix, echoes a similar sentiment.

“Showcasing Phoenix to the running community is always an incredible opportunity. With Phoenix’s signature sunny weather and stunning desert landscapes, it’s the perfect setting for an unforgettable race experience,” he said. “We are proud to welcome a destination race that inspires runners from near and far.”

The inaugural event is predicted to attract participants both locally and nationally, with an estimate of over 5,000 participants taking part in the brand-new event in the city of Phoenix.
