As vote tallies continue to update at the Maricopa County Elections Department, numbers show a likely general election contest between Mark Stanton and Anna Thomasson for the station of Paradise Valley mayor.
In the race for mayor of the Town of Paradise Valley, as of 9 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, initial unofficial results are:
- Anna Thomasson with 1,722 or 46.5% of ballots cast.
- Mark Stanton with 1,424 votes or 38.46% of ballots cast.
- Mary Hamway with 557 votes or 15.04% of ballots cast.
Ms. Hamway offered congratulatory remarks to her fellow candidates as they look to face-off later this year at the ballot box.
“Congratulations to Anna and Mark are in order,” Ms. Hamway told the Digital Free Press this past election night. “They both ran excellent races. I am proud of the campaign I ran and have no regrets.
Mr. Stanton and Ms. Thomasson thanked Ms. Hamway for her respectful campaign as they now look toward the general election, which is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
“I am very grateful for the voters in Paradise Valley and excited to move onto the general election in November,” Mr. Stanton said. “Over the next several months I will be working hard to share my vision for Paradise Valley and earn very single vote. Mary Hamway ran a fair and ethical campaign and I know she will continue to be an engaged resident in our town.”
Ms. Thomasson remains committed to earn the vote of Paradise Valley residents.
“Spending almost all Election Day welcoming voters at Town hall was a pleasure, reminding me how much I enjoy being with PV residents. I was honored to be the top vote getter,” she said. “I’m also excited to announce that I will, once again, walk every mile of the town between now and Nov. 5, seeing the town from the ground up and listening to residents as I earn their vote to be Mayor Thomasson.”
Mr. Stanton says he is honored to be a volunteer and elected leader at the Town of Paradise Valley.
“Moving forward, public safety, limited government, conservative fiscal policies, and high quality of life will continue to be the leading points of my platform to win the election,” he said. “I am thrilled with outpouring of continued support and encouragement from the residents of Paradise Valley, and now I am in full campaign mode to win this election.”
