UCP of Central Arizona announces new board of directors

United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona is announcing its 2025 Board of Directors.

The board is comprised of leaders from multiple industries across the Valley including education, healthcare and government.

This announcement comes at a pivotal time in the health and human services nonprofit organization’s 72-year history as its Downtown East facility undergoes a massive renovation and expansion project which doubled its space and now provides an opportunity to service 20% more Valley children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders, according to a press release.

UCP of Central Arizona’s Downtown East facility, located on the Ability 360 campus, will be home to the world’s first and only “Baby G” gait and balance system, set to launch this summer. The innovative mobility technology will help babies and children under 50 pounds learn to sit, crawl and stand.

Board members include Son Yong Pak who will serve as Chair. Ms. Pak is the principal of mercer government human services consulting in phoenix. Nicole Anderson, who serves as the board’s vice chair. Ms. Anderson is the executive director of branding and communications at Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University. Craig Woods will serve as board secretary. Woods is the co-founder of One Medicine Group and former director of research projects, infectious disease and complex adaptive systems at Arizona State University. Christopher Vinyard, director of government relations at Arizona Complete Health, will serve as the board’s treasurer. Elizabeth Pond MFT, a disabilities and accessibility advocate and public speakder, is a member at large.

Brett Heising, principal at Brett Heising Consulting is the board’s past chair and Dr. Jen Gruenhagen, assistant professor in the department of physical therapy at Midwestern University is a member at large.

“As UCP continues to move forward with groundbreaking initiatives and technology we are empowered by the strength of our diversified board who are industry executives and thought leaders from a variety of disciplines,” said UCP of Central Arizona CEO, Kentay Garvin.

“I am grateful to work with a group of accomplished individuals who use their industry knowledge and experience to help drive forward our mission at UCP and who are passionate about the impact we are making for children and adults in the disability community across the Valley.”
