Scottsdale Community College is announcing an Open House community event that promises a day of excitement, exploration, and entertainment.
Coined, “Artie Palooza” in honor of SCC’s beloved Artie the Artichoke mascot, this free outdoor festival invites the public to experience the vibrant SCC campus and discover the wide array of academic programs and student services offered.
Join the fun from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Two Waters Circle, right in the heart of SCC’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Visitors can take part in interactive and hands-on demonstrations from SCC’s lauded departments, including Art, STEM, Nursing, Exercise Science, Career Services, Culture and Society, Counseling, Interior Design, Visual Communication, Environmental Science and Geology, Business, Service Learning, Equine Science, Computer Information Systems, the Center for Native & Urban Wildlife, World Languages and more.
SCC students from the Dance, Music, American Indian Program, and Creative Writing departments will share their talents through captivating performances. Games, face painting, sidewalk chalk art, many make-and-take activities, as well as exciting prizes, wait to be discovered around every corner. The event culminates with an awe-inspiring iron pour demonstration by the Sculpture program.
“The purpose of this event is for neighbors and the general public to explore our many academic and occupational programs in a fun, festive environment,” said SCC President Eric Leshinskie. “Everyone is invited to experience Scottsdale Community College’s beautiful campus and caring college community.”
All attendees will enjoy free food, live music, and fun activities while discovering the amazing learning opportunities available at SCC. Representatives from Student Affairs will be available to respond to enrollment questions.
