Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman has been appointed vice chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Energy Committee following its 93rd Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida.
Mayor Freeman joins the USCMs leadership team — representing cities with populations of 30,000 or more, in shaping national energy policy, according to a press release.
The Tampa gathering brought together nearly 200 mayors to discuss a broad range of policy priorities impacting Americas cities, including housing affordability, infrastructure modernization, climate resiliency and energy innovation.
The USCMs Energy Committee addresses policies and programs that impact energy efficiency, renewable energy development, grid reliability, and sustainable infrastructure — areas in which Mayor Freeman has been a strong advocate for Mesa and the broader region.
“I am honored to be appointed as Vice Chair of the Energy Committee for the U.S. Conference of Mayors,” Mayor Freeman said in a prepared statement. “Energy policy is critical to the future of our communities, and I look forward to working with my fellow mayors from across the country to advance solutions that strengthen energy reliability, promote innovation, and keep costs affordable for residents and businesses.”
The U.S. Conference of Mayors is the official nonpartisan organization representing nearly 1,400 cities nationwide.
