The Broadway blockbuster Frozen will melt hearts at The Phoenix Theatre Company from Sept. 24 to Oct. 26, marking the debut production in the newly constructed Dr. Stacie J. and Richard J Stephenson Theatre, according to a press release.
The musical arrives as a dazzling invitation into a new era of live performance in Phoenix, where state-of-the-art technology meets Broadway-caliber artistry.
“The debut of this theatre marks a transformative moment for our city’s cultural landscape,” said Producing Artistic Director Michael Barnard in the release. “It’s only fitting that we celebrate with Frozen, a production that unites spectacle, music and story on the grandest scale.”
Based on the Oscar-winning Disney film, Frozen follows Anna’s quest to save her sister Elsa, whose magical powers have plunged the kingdom of Arendelle into an endless winter. Along the way, Anna encounters Kristoff, Sven and Olaf, proving that courage, resilience and love can thaw even the coldest heart.
Directed by Barnard, with choreography by Sam Hay and music direction by Kevin Robert White, the production features beloved songs from the film along with 12 new additions by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, according to the release.
“This is one of the most technically ambitious shows we’ve ever produced,” Barnard said. “From the sets and costumes to the puppetry and special effects, it’s a chance to push the boundaries of what audiences expect on our stage. Frozen sets the tone for the kind of theatre we’re capable of creating in this new space.”
The cast includes Matravius Avent*, Shani Barrett*, Rose Cali, Alyssa Chiarello*, Brandon S.
