In time for the 69th annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, Feb. 15-25 at WestWorld, event producers can expect a new tent placed over Arena 7.
Among items of consent on Jan. 23, Scottsdale City Council approved a resolution for up to $60,000 from a portion of the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Tourism Development Funds to retain/develop the Arabian Horse Show, and authorize the mayor’s agreement with the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona for the event.
According to the staff report and a supporting exhibit, the agreement entails the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona spending about $60,000 to market Scottsdale as a designated destination, featuring the city’s name and logo in all advertising and banners placed in Arena 7, announcers mentioning Old Town Scottsdale at least five times during the event, ensuring attendance exceeds 50,000, and a minimum of $500,000 in marketing.
Similarly, before the Feb. 3 Parada Del Sol Parade & Trails End Festival event was held, City Council approved resolutions during the January meeting to also use part of the FY 2023-24 Tourism Development Funds for retention/development of this year’s event up to $162,500 and supporting the Parada del Sol Historic Parade, the report noted.
The contractual agreement also included promoting the city through the Parada del Sol Parade and Trail’s End Festival, including the announcer mentioning the city no less than six times during the event, and other marketing/promotion obligations.
