Western Maricopa Education Center — a career and technical education school district — recently broke ground on its southeast campus at West 93rd Avenue and Osborn Road.

“We are proud to announce the construction of our largest campus near the dynamic medical corridor at 101 and Thomas,” said West-MEC Superintendent Dr. Scott Spurgeon, in a prepared statement. “Designed to address the West Valley’s evolving workforce needs, this innovative facility reflects insights from partnerships with industry leaders like Amazon, Amkor, Gatorade, Nestle, and TSMC. These collaborations have shaped programs that equip students with the skills to excel in high-demand careers.”

The Southeast Campus, set to be built on a 30-acre plot just off the Loop 101, will be West-MEC’s fifth campus, according to a press release.

“This project will build on the remarkable growth in this area of the Phoenix metro, bringing substantial benefits to Arizona’s workforce,” said DLR Group Principal and Architect, Matt Brehmer. “The future is bright and brimming with exciting opportunities for students and industry in the West Valley of Maricopa County.”

This will be the first phase of a multi-phased project.

Construction services are being led by CHASSE Building Team

West-MEC and its industry partners will work with CBT and DLR Group throughout the project to align the built environment with the established facilities plan and vision for the new campus. Construction will be completed by summer 2026.

“West-MEC has been a wonderful partner, advocating for a forward-thinking design that fosters openness and collaboration among students and educators,” said Barry Chasse, president of CHASSE Building Team. “A great example of this is the use of glass-partitioned walls, which not only encourage interaction and transparency but also create a dynamic, modern learning environment. We are proud to help bring this vision to life.”
