Phoenix is seeking volunteers to help residents with income tax preparation through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which serves low- to moderate-income individuals and families.
According to a press release, volunteers receive free training and earn IRS certification. Training is self-paced and available online. Volunteers can qualify with as little as eight hours of training, while certification requires 24 hours.
Volunteering offers an opportunity to give back to the community while learning skills that can enhance a resume and customer service experience. Positions include tax preparers, greeters, screeners, bilingual interpreters and site coordinators.
