Some important election dates are quickly approaching:

Early voting for the general election begins on Wednesday, Oct. 9, and ends on Friday, Nov. 1.

The last day to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 7.

The last day to request an early ballot is Friday, Oct. 25.

And, in-person voting is Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Maricopa County Elections Department will offer “vote anywhere” Vote Centers on Nov. 5, which allow voters to choose from any open location, instead of one assigned location. Voters can visit Where to Vote to find the nearest location.

Of note: This year, Mesa City Plaza and the Mesa Main Library will not be available as a Drop Box or voting location for the General Election.

The city of Mesa has four questions on the General Election ballot:

Run-off election for mayor and Dist. 1 City Council seat

Current Dist. 1 City Councilman Mark Freeman and former Mesa Mayor Scott Smith face off for the mayor of Mesa spot. They were the top vote-getters but neither had the majority of votes in the primary on July 30. They defeated Ryan Winkle, Scott Neely and Carey Davis.

Candidates Rich Adams and Ron Williams also face a run-off for the City Council seat in District 1.

The incoming mayor and councilmembers elected in the 2024 primary and general elections will take office in January 2025 for a four-year term.
