Choosing the right educational foundation is a significant decision for parents, and one that sets the course for a lifetime of learning.
That’s why Scottsdale Unified School District is proudly opening the doors of its kindergarten classrooms in the coming weeks and months to invite families to embark on this exciting path with one of Arizona’s premier school districts.
SUSD’s November Kindergarten Roundup gatherings for the 2024-25 school year kick off next week at 15 elementary schools and three K‒8 schools, according to a press release.
Sessions will also be held in January and March 2024 for the school year that begins on Aug. 5, 2024, the release states.

“Our kindergarten experience at Scottsdale Unified is more than just the start of a child’s formal education: it lays the foundation for a lifetime of growth and curiosity,” shares Margaret Serna, SUSD elementary education executive director. “During these key, early years, students develop the confidence and skills that will shape them into confident, critical thinkers and lifelong learners.”
Scottsdale Unified offers free, full-day kindergarten.
At the SUSD roundup events, you and your family will meet SUSD’s state-certified kindergarten teachers and school principals. We invite you to explore our vibrant kindergarten classrooms, take a campus tour and soak in the nurturing environment that surrounds our littlest learners.
Essential skills that incoming kindergarteners will have typically mastered before their educational journey kicks off will be reviewed. Questions about enrollment, lunch options, school-day schedules and playground safety will be answered, too.
Developing a child’s love of learning early on is critical, says Ms. Serna, who taught kindergarten for more than 20 years.
“Your student’s path to success starts with SUSD,” she said.
