Family Promise of Greater Phoenix serves those experiencing homelessness

Family Promise of Greater Phoenix recognized members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for membership dedication to helping families experiencing homelessness.
In partnership with Family Promise of Greater Phoenix (Family Promise), St. Peter’s volunteers to provide shelter and meals for local families experiencing homelessness, according to a press release.
With the support of members of the congregation, St. Peter’s sets up temporary shelters at its facility to host families overnight and prepares dinner for the families every night of the week, the release states.
To commemorate St. Peter’s dedication to helping others, Family Promise honored the congregation with the “Changing Lives … Changing Hearts” award at the Miracle Worker Luncheon hosted by Valley Presbyterian Church in the Town of Paradise Valley.
“Volunteer community organizations like St. Peter’s make it possible for us to positively impact many families across the Valley. We couldn’t be more thankful for their continued support and service,” said Ted Taylor, CEO of Family Promise.
St. Peter’s members Rich and Uyen Crabb accepted the “Changing Lives … Changing Hearts” award on behalf of the congregation. The Crabb’s coordinate the Family Promise Weeks on the St. Peter’s campus including set-up and take-down, meal coordination from volunteers, and activities for adults and children including games, outdoor activities, and RePete Boutique Shopping.
“From the very first encounter with Rich and Uyen, families feel acknowledged, heard, and deeply valued,” Mr. Taylor said. “Their genuine care and attention have a transformative effect, effortlessly instilling seeds of respect, compassion, and joy that will flourish for years to come.”
Family Promise of Greater Phoenix relies on its interfaith network of volunteer religious congregations to shelter and feed the families they serve while the nonprofit organization assists these families on their journey back to self-sufficiency.
At the beginning of the year, Family Promise of Greater Phoenix set a goal to aid 165 families in 2024 by utilizing their program for independent housing and self-sufficiency. The organization has also assisted families avoid placements in shelter systems through their preventative programming.
