Extensive search leads Scottsdale to Monica Boyd, officials report

The city of Scottsdale hired Monica Boyd to lead its Human Resources Department.
Ms. Boyd has over 20 years of experience at the municipality of Phoenix, with a decade of experience in human resources, city officials say. She served as deputy human resources director leading the organizational support and leave management programs division.

“Monica is an experienced leader with the proven ability to develop others, foster a team environment and successfully build cross-divisional teams to support key human resources initiatives,” said Scottsdale City Manager Jim Thompson in a prepared statement.
Ms. Boyd holds degrees from Arizona State University – a master’s in public administration and a bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies, with concentrations in business and psychology. She earned her Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional designation and certification in workplace mediation, the release states.
“I am thrilled to be joining the city Dec. 12,” Ms. Boyd said in the release. “I look forward to working alongside so many talented people and being a part of this amazing culture.”
