“What started out as a small poker tournament among friends has now evolved into a large annual casino night dedicated to raising money for local Arizona children’s charities,” says this year’s Cards For Kids Chair Tad Crother. “This will be the fourth annual occurrence of the event, and we plan to make it bigger and better than ever!”
Cards For Kids is a component of The Saguaros Olympiad signature fundraiser, which last year raised nearly $1 million for children’s charities, including Boys Hope Girls Hope, The Care Fund, and Harvest Compassion Center. The Saguaros, representatives there say, hope to reach over $1 million in funds raised for the Saguaros Children’s Charities Foundation this year, with combined proceeds from the Olympiad event and Cards For Kids.
“This event is a true community effort, with food and drinks and a huge number of prizes and raffle items donated by local businesses,” Mr. Crother said. “Plus, most of the money we raise will come from sponsorships purchased by local businesses as well. The event is a truly a celebration of those who want to give back to our community and have fun while doing it!”
Mr. Crother says the new Hangar 1 location will enable the event to grow in size, noting that The Saguaros are expecting 700 attendees and hoping to set a new event fundraising record.
