Truth in taxation hearing set for July 12 in Scottsdale

Officials at the Scottsdale Unified School District are notifying property taxpayers within bounds of Scottsdale Schools the educational entity’s intention of its pursuit to increase the primary property taxes.
In a press release, SUSD officials report the increase to the primary property tax rate is within the bounds of state law where the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board has authority in compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes, §15-905.01.
The Scottsdale Unified School District is proposing an increase in its primary property tax levy of $2,000,000. The amount proposed above will cause Scottsdale Unified School District’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to increase from $0.3436 to $3.4514, the press release states.
These amounts proposed are above the qualifying tax levies as prescribed by state law, if applicable. The increase is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter-approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides, the release states.
Scottsdale Schools officials say the property tax increase hearing is 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at the Mohave District Annex, 8500 E. Jackrabbit Road in Scottsdale.
