By Linda Milhaven | Point of View

I am honored to announce my candidacy for mayor of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale is one of the best cities in the world, and I am proud to have played a part in helping make this such a wonderful community. I look forward to continuing to protect and preserve what makes Scottsdale great while planning for an even more prosperous future.

Our residents deserve competent, authentic leadership to keep moving our city forward. We live in an amazing place, but the current mayor’s lack of vision and action have emboldened naysayers to fill the vacuum with fear mongering, stifling debate and squashing good ideas. That’s not me. I will collaborate and focus on common sense solutions that help build a better city.

I am uniquely qualified to manage our financial challenges with my extensive business experience having spent over 40 years in banking with over 10 years as the Community Bank President for Scottsdale.

I possess the financial acumen and leadership skills to ensure the city’s ability to thrive economically through challenging times – controlling spending, keeping taxes low and providing high quality services.

My 30 years of experience as a community leader, including 12 years on Scottsdale’s City Council, prepare me for the challenges ahead.

In addition to three terms on City Council, I served on numerous boards, commissions and committees all contributing to our quality of life. I am proud to be a recent inductee to Scottsdale’s Historical Society’s Hall of Fame.

As we look to the future, we cannot take anything for granted. We must ensure the continued strength of our local economy and enhance the city’s financial strength, so our residents enjoy the quality of life they expect and deserve.

My priorities as mayor of Scottsdale:

Protect Taxpayers & Grow Our Economy
Keep taxes low and eliminate wasteful spending.
Support policies that create jobs and economic growth.

Protect Our Water Supply
Ensure all our residents have access to water.
Strengthen water conservation.

Protect the People of Scottsdale
Support our police and fire departments.
Find pragmatic solutions for homelessness.
Keep neighborhoods safe.

Protect & Preserve Our Quality of Life
Protect the Preserve!
Keep Scottsdale a place where people can live, work and play.

Protect & Preserve Our Neighborhoods
Enforce and strengthen rules on short-term rentals.
No apartments in residential neighborhoods.

I am grateful for the trust and support that I earned from Scottsdale residents during my time on city council and look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve.
