ThirstAid seeks to serve local vulnerable populations in Phoenix

Staff Reports | Digital Free Press

The Human Services Campus is hosting ThirstAid water collection drives from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday through September as officials there say about 100,000 bottles of water are needed each month.

ThirstAid collections will take place the first Saturday of every month through September, officials there say, as boiling temperatures are expected arrive in the coming weeks.

The designated collection location is near the Harrison Street Gate at 1300 W. Harrison in Phoenix.

HSC staff and partner organizations will unload all donations. HSC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency, owns and operates a 13-acre campus at 12th Avenue and Madison that is home to 16 nonprofit organizations providing services and resources to help people end their homelessness.

It is estimated 900 individuals experiencing homelessness are sheltered every day on the campus with nearly 900 unsheltered individuals on the streets surrounding the campus.

Urgent seasonal needs include electrolyte powdered drink packets, sunscreen and SPF lip balm, solid grey bandanas (no patterns), sun hats, baseball caps, sunglasses, insulated water jugs (half-gallon preferred) and cooling wraps and towels.

Donations of hygiene items and pet supplies are always accepted.
