“Cullum Home owners were pleased with their homes but now wanted luxury offices to work in comfort. Families better understood the frailties of life and wanted to build casitas and guest suites for elderly family members so they could be closer to them and in the midst of hardship, people saw opportunities to come together, and they trusted Cullum Homes to help bring those ideas to life.”

Since 1985 no name has been linked more appropriately with luxury homebuilding than Cullum Homes as properties found in the Town of Paradise Valley and Scottsdale showcase innovative approaches to tried-and-true designs.
Led by Rod and Kim Cullum — alongside daughter Lindsay Cullum-Colwell and son-in-law, Paul Colwell — the Scottsdale-based builder is well known for being Arizona’s leader in luxury homebuilding.
What started for Cullum Homes in the wake of the housing crisis in 2009 as a modest half-million in renovations revenue has grown into $12 million in renovations business, according to a press release.
A strong foundation fuels growth
The renovations division follows the same stringent building model it has since the mid-’80s and heading up the renovations division is Derrick Willett, who serves as VP of the renovations division at Cullum Homes, the release states.
Mr. Willett is joined by a 12-person team including two project managers, a field renovations manager, as well as field managers and field assistants.
“While COVID-19 was obviously so difficult for so many of us in numerous ways, it did offer non-traditional opportunities to spend more time at home amongst family and loved ones,” Mr. Willett said in a prepared statement.

A family business focused on quality
So why Cullum Homes for these renovations? Because the Scottsdale-based family is built for such an endeavor, representatives at Cullum Homes say.
Between infrastructure and communications systems, trade relationships and volume, Cullum Homes has the size and scale to succeed and thrive in this subset of the homebuilding industry a part of the Valley of the Sun.
In addition, Cullum Homes has forged a proprietary construction management system, which handles trade scheduling, internal and external communications, and provides them with immediate notifications, the release states.
Cullum Homes has created a partnership community with tradesman and tradeswoman in and around the Scottsdale business community.
The Cullums, Rod and Kim, who started their business in 1985 continue to focus on strong relationships, a relentless focus on quality, and flexibility that is now a hallmark of the brand’s work in the marketplace.
