The city of Phoenix is being recognized by Forbes as a ‘best-in-state’ employer ranking the municipality 19th out of 74 companies in the America’s Best Employers By State listing.

“The city of Phoenix Human Resources Department has a clear mission to attract, develop, support, and retain a talented workforce that delivers exceptional services to our community,” Human Resources Director David Mathews said in a press release. “To land on a list like this from Forbes – ranked solely based on employee reviews – suggests to me that we are continually moving toward accomplishing that mission.”

Phoenix officials report Forbes worked with market research firm Statista to compile the ‘best-in-state’ lists, which anonymously surveyed 70,000 workers across the nation at companies with 500 employees or more.

Employees were asked to evaluate their employer on qualities like working conditions, compensation packages, and diversity. They were also asked if they would recommend their employer to others. Companies paid no fee to participate.
