Abrazo Health gives next generation glimpse of medical career opportunities

Students from the northern region of the Valley of the Sun got to see a variety of occupations during a career day hosted this week by Abrazo Health and its Cave Creek hospital staff in collaboration with Desert Foothills Family YMCA and Daisy Mountain Fire & Medical.
Hospital tours were led by Abrazo Cave Creek staff who described different career paths like nursing, radiology and respiratory therapy. The students also viewed a demonstration of how to perform hands-only CPR, according to a press release.
Crews from Daisy Mountain Engine 147 and Medic 147 gave a tour of their trucks, showed equipment, and discussed the role and importance of firefighting and EMS in the community, the release states.
“Abrazo Cave Creek Hospital has been open for two years now and continues to build relationships with our local partners. We provide 24/7 medical care and are proud to offer health education and screenings for the community,” said Abrazo Outreach Manager Cindy Roberts, in a prepared statement.
Abrazo Cave Creek Hospital opened on July 26, 2021, near the southwest corner of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road at 5227 E. Carefree Highway.
The neighborhood hospital offers a full emergency department, inpatient care and procedure rooms, onsite ultrasound, x-ray and CT scan, laboratory, pharmacy and other services.

“It is exciting to host groups like this to show the types of jobs performed in a hospital and how we collaborate with first responders. Everyone’s role is important to providing patient care. After learning about these health careers many students will have a new perspective on career goals,” Ms. Roberts pointed out.
“Abrazo supports its caregivers and staff with opportunities to grow professionally through education and career advancement pathways. We would love to see these students return as healthcare professionals or first responders in the future.”
